More Police Presence and Speed Trap at Memorial School for Community Safety & Initiatives

The Issue

I have personally witnessed the reckless endangerment of our community in the presence of high-speed traffic near Memorial School, where I and others have been hit, including a car driven by my own child. This stretch of road has become a hotspot for accidents, where individuals and animals are hit nearly daily. The proliferation of these tragedies has led me to bury many innocent lives, a heartbreaking ordeal caused by reckless drivers.

The situation urgently calls for the installation of a speed camera but since they are currently illegal in NJ just reinstating the nightly speed trap with an officer parked in cemetery entrance would suffice. Not only will this safety measure deter reckless behavior and protect our community, but it could also generate significant revenue. A similar project in Washington, D.C. reportedly brought in over $175 million in 2016 (source: Washington Post). Here in our town, these much-needed funds could be allocated to support significant local initiatives. In particular, it could finance the establishment of a town animal rescue and control center—an initiative that currently doesn't exist. This task has fallen on the shoulders of dedicated citizens like myself, who have spent substantial personal savings to feed and rescue animals.

This Friday am after a week long clean up done by myself and my family of small patch of woods left for animals in town, I found old and new drugs and drug paraphernalia in the woods and baseball field only feet from slides and playground. I turned them into police.

We, the affected community members, implore our local legislatures to enact these necessary, life-saving measures. By implementing a speed trap and more police presence nightly near Memorial School, we will be bringing safety back to our roads and generating essential funds for community projects like an official town animal rescue center. Protect our community. Protect our animals. Sign this petition now.
