Make the Montserrat Secondary School Renovation or Rebuilding a Budget Priority in FY19/20

Make the Montserrat Secondary School Renovation or Rebuilding a Budget Priority in FY19/20
The Issue
At a meeting with the Montserrat Secondary School Parent Teacher Association (16/5/2019) it was explained that despite the closing of two buildings in September, renovation or replacement with permanent structures will not be a priority in the coming fiscal year (we are still technically waiting on the budget). The implications of the unacceptable work and educational conditions cannot be ignored and the implications have far reaching effects for Montserrat’s future.
At the presentation DFID reports were sited from 2010 (https://www.gov.uk/dfid-research-outputs/development-proposals-for-lookout-primary-school-brades-primary-school-montserrat-secondary-school-2008-mnt-09 outlining the inadequacy of the location.
Educational development needs to become more of a priority of any elected official or political aspirant. Skerritt’s Educational Consultancy Ltd is committed to advocating for this necessary change. The budget allocation can still be changed in the Committee Phase of the upcoming Budget Debate.
Please sign this electronic petition to endorse the need to change the allocation and ensure MSS is fixed. The full petition will be circulated to members of the Legislative Assembly.
