Remove the Statue of Sam Davis from the MBA Campus

Remove the Statue of Sam Davis from the MBA Campus
The Issue
In this national moment of racial reckoning, it's time for MBA to take down its statue of Sam Davis. Removing a monument to the Confederacy is a small but obvious step toward racial justice and is an acknowledgment of the school's complicated racial history.
On June 1, Headmaster Gioia shared a note:
"These last few days I have reflected on the state of racial divide in our country and the importance of developing our school’s commitment to greater respect and support of one another. The violence and senselessness in the death of George Floyd has been overwhelming, and the subsequent extent of pain and tension evident in our cities across the country suggests a great need to build a better nation centered on care for one another. Today we have talked with a number of students and faculty and staff about developing this discussion and our efforts. The MBA community should show leadership in this area."
Let's hold MBA accountable. MBA cannot be a leader in the fight for racial justice while refusing to denounce the legacy of slavery and its lasting impact on our country. Building a "better nation centered on care for one another" requires tangible actions to eliminate institutional racism. Let's start at MBA.
Pledge to withhold any donations to MBA until the school takes down the statue of Sam Davis.
