"Wow." That's the first thing I want to say. Just "wow." When I started this petition, I would not have imagined that we'd see as many signers and I am in awe of all of you who care about defending a great local business. Thank you so much for stepping up, sharing the petition and letting your friends know. That said, I'd love to see us hit 5,000 that would be amazing, and I want to challenge everyone to get the word out this weekend and help put this over 5,000 by Sunday! We can do it! Some folks have been asking about Change.org asking them for donations. Let me say that this effort wasn't ever started to serve as a fundraiser for Change.org at all. I don't say this to mean anything negative, rather just to say that Change.org is a business who does make money partially through collecting optional contributions for promoting the petitions that folks like me create. I don't think that's a bad thing, since companies have to keep their lights on and all of that, but I do want to explain why they are asking. To be honest, I haven't put in any money in to promote this petition so far, so all 3,500+ of you who have found out about this petition did so from referrals from MurLarkey's email lists, social media, or through friends who shared this with their social media contacts. Let me also say that I truly believe that Change.org is actually a really honorable company for giving people like me a voice to speak up about things they care about, so please don't take my lack of a contribution yet to mean in any way that I don't think highly of Change.org or to mean that I don't want to support their efforts. Change.org does some amazing things to help make the world a better place, and I'd encourage you to check out some of the amazing petitions that other Change.org users have posted. You are likely to find a few you'll want to sign and stand up for, and I encourage you to sign those you believe in. Thanks for taking a stand. Thanks for making your voice heard.
