From Semester 1 of 2016 onwards, students in the Faculty of Business and Economics, Monash University will be required to use an HP 10bII+ calculator during examinations. 

This calculator is clunky, difficult to use and encourages the rote memorisation of calculator functions rather than the fundamental formulae which are conducive to understanding and development. Skills learned specific to this calculator will be useless in the real world when students must solve problems with computer applications and software packages and don't have access to this calculator model. 

I am starting this petition because I want your opinion on the matter. I will be writing to the Deputy Dean (Education) of Monash Business School and will need your support on the matter. If you believe in using calculators which make sense to you and spending time learning skills which are widely applicable, rather than how to use a new calculator, then get onboard this journey with me.
