I am a student at Teesside University, and like many others, I was attracted by the promise of flexible tuition fee payment options. The university initially presented a plan of seven instalments for fee payments on their website during registration. This flexibility was one of the main reasons why I chose this institution.

However, after resumption, this structure was abruptly changed to three instalments without any prior notice or explanation. This sudden change has put immense financial pressure on me and many other students who planned their finances according to the initial seven-instalment plan.

This is not just about me; it's about all students who are struggling with this unexpected financial burden. According to a report by Save The Student in 2020, around 30% of UK students struggle with paying their tuition fees on time (Save The Student). With such statistics in mind, it is clear that more flexible payment options are needed.

We urge Teesside University to revert back to its original commitment - allowing tuition fees payment in seven instalments instead of three. By doing so, they will be easing the financial strain on numerous students and living up to the promises made during registration.
