Removal of unlawfull Gray Curb Zone Parking Zone

Dear Mr. Soto-Martin

I am writing to you today to address the urgent issue of parking availability for residents along North Van Ness Avenue, specifically concerning the restrictions imposed on our community after the tragic events of 9/11. As a resident and member of this community, I have witnessed firsthand the detrimental impact these changes have had on our parking situation, particularly affecting our elderly and disabled residents who struggle to find accessible parking near their homes.

The removal of over forty parking spots, authorized by the City of L.A. at the request of Paramount Studios, has left our community with inadequate parking resources. This decision has led to severe inconveniences and heightened stress, particularly on street sweeping days, significantly limiting our options and creating a burden that seems unfairly imposed on residents. It has become increasingly difficult for many of us to park near our homes, exacerbating safety concerns and accessibility for those with mobility challenges.

We believe a reasonable solution can be achieved by re-evaluating the current parking layout to restore the forty community parking spots that were lost. This initiative would alleviate the immense pressure on our neighborhood's parking situation while enabling Paramount Studios to maintain its operations without putting undue strain on our local low income residents. We urge you to consider transforming the existing 'No Parking' zone into designated community parking spaces equal to the joining streets and surroundin community too allowing for this sections of our community street to be used as the original desired use for residential Parking.

Your leadership and support in this matter are crucial for the well-being of our community. We kindly ask that you advocate for a sustainable solution to our parking predicament and work alongside us to ensure that the voices of the residents are heard and addressed.

Thank you for your attention to this important issue. We look forward to your support in restoring our community’s essential parking resources.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Gelman
