Mobilize Additional Support for Law Enforcement in Memphis

The Issue

I am a business owner of Memphis, TN, and I feel unsafe in my own city. The streets that once echoed with laughter and camaraderie now reverberate with fear due to the rampant crime. Our mayor and police departments seem to be struggling to control this situation, leaving us citizens feeling helpless. We have thugs brazenly breaking in to store fronts in the middle of the day taking 10's of thousands of dollars in merchandise, driving recklessly through the streets doing doughnuts and stopping traffic on the interstates. All with no actin from the leaders or Police Department.

Memphis has seen a significant increase in crime rates over the past few years. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program, violent crimes in Memphis have been consistently higher than the national average. This is not just about numbers; it's about our lives, our safety.

We need immediate action from our local government and law enforcement agencies. We urge them to implement stronger policies against criminal activities and allocate more resources towards ensuring public safety. We also request state-level intervention iif necessary because we deserve a safe environment where we can live without fear.

We are asking Governor Lee of the state of Tennessee to please step in and give Memphis the needed assistance from the Tennessee Highway Patrol and/ or the State Guard or any necessary resources needed to help take back control of our streets. Hold criminals accountable for their actions, stop the swinging door policy with the jail system, Judges and District Attorney's office.

The time for change is now! Let's take back control of our streets! Sign this petition if you believe that every citizen of Memphis deserves peace, security, and justice.
