On September 25, 2019, the president of the board of CT Against Gun Violence personally delivered our petition signed by 15,500 Americans calling on Senate Majority Leader McConnell to pass an assault weapons ban (AWB) and other measures, including universal background checks, that will keep our children and communities safe from gun violence.

That same day the House Judiciary Committee heard testimony on its AWB bill, the first Congressional public hearing on banning weapons of war since the original 1994 AWB lapsed in 2004.
