I’ve never done anything like this before. I can’t help but feel like I’ve been blindfolded, spun around three times, and dropped into a the middle of a bureaucratic process that Enbridge knows inside and out. One thing that helps is knowing that I’m not alone. The process is new to all thirteen of us Youth Climate Intervenors, but we are learning fast. And we aren’t just thirteen strong anymore. Thanks to you, we’re nearly 40,000 strong. As Paddle to Protect comes to an end, the Evidentiary Hearing speeds ever closer. Enbridge continues to build their case, justifying the destruction of the earth, tribal rights, and the futures of so many young people in the name of their bottom line. They have experience. They have money. They have political clout. Sitting across the table from them will be us, the Youth Climate Intervenors, and a number of other intervening groups and individuals, all working relentlessly to build our case with the help of expert witnesses. The Youth Climate Intervenors are working with experts on the impacts of climate change on things such as storms, agriculture, health, forestry, waterways, tourism, tribal rights, and culture. We just cleared a major hurdle in which our experts filed their testimony and evidence on September 11th.
