Increase Jail Term for Animal Abusers in Singapore
The Issue
Your signature would make a big difference in our legislature. Singapore's current punishment for animal abusers is NOT SUFFICIENT ENOUGH to prevent animal cruelty. Animal abuse cases are not reduced, but increased in numbers. We need to indict with harsher jail term in order to prevent animal abuse cases. Remember, there are clear evidences that animal abuse is associated with psychopathic traits and are first signs of gateway to human murders.
- The Ang Mo Kio Cat Slasher (Total cat victims: 10+)
Over the course of April 2021 to May 2021, Leow Wei Liang 37, was believed by the prosecution to be behind the slashings of at least 10 cats that were found to have deep cuts on their bodies.
2. Dogs Starved, Abused, Dragged to Deaths
Yeo could not handle Yogi’s barking especially after complaints from his neighbours. He leashed Yogi and dragged it down 20 flights of stairs. Yeo then left the poor, defenseless bleeding Yogi there to die. He starved and abused Brownie even when they sustained injuries. He was only sentenced 20 months in prison.
3. Cat Taped with Masking Tape
For urinating at his residence, Li Xiaojing taped the cat. be anaesthetised before they could remove the tape which was stuck to its fur and skin. He was only fined $6000.

4. Man Kills Dog During Argument
When Chong Choom Kiat, a 40-year old man was having a fight with his girlfriend, he took his anger out on his pet dog. He suffocated the dog with a shirt and then a leash, before stabbing it to death. He then disposed the dog into the HDB rubbish chute. Absolutely no respect of a life. Sentenced to only 12 months of treatment order.
5. Swung Pet Poodle On Leash, Kicked
Chen Xin, a 38-year-old Singaporean grabbed his pet dog by the neck and pinned the dog down against the seating area for 3 seconds - also kicked its chest and lifted the dog by its leash and swung the dog, was fined only S$10,000 and banned from keeping any pets for a year. Without a jail term.
6. Cat Thrown 6 Floors Down, Then Burned on Ears, And Smashed on Ground
Fajar Ashraf allegedly flung a female short-haired cat from the sixth floor of Block 884, Tampines Street 83. He is also accused of slamming the cat on the ground twice, about an hour later. The cat was reportedly found "shrieking in agony" and "with blood oozing from its mouth". Jailed only 18 weeks.
