Fighting for love in Singapore

Fighting for love in Singapore
The Issue
Section 377A is a Singaporean law criminalising sex between consenting male adults. The item of legislation was added to the Penal Code in the 1930s. The item remained part of the Singapore body of law after the Penal Code review of October 2007 that removed most of the other provisions in Section 377.
People from the LGBTQ+ community should be able to love whoever they want to love freely and be treated just as how any straight cisgender person would. Does their sexual orientation determine how they should be treated? No.
In Singapore, we aim to embrace diversity, diversity does not only mean race and religion. As our pledge goes, "based on justice and equality", we should grant LGBTQ+ people their rights to be treated as any other human being.
May we progress towards a more inclusive society, with the repeal of Section 377A as our first step towards a homophobia-free country.
