We have been observing repetitions in formalities to be completed for passport application and would like to share following suggestions for streamlining the process We have also put up petition on change.org and got 100 signatures on the same. Reproduced below are the background and suggestions upon the same. Request you to spare a few minutes of your valuable time to go through the same Repetition of documents' verification for passport renewal,at police station be eliminated As per present procedure, applicants applying first time for passport or whose passport has expired before three years, are required to visit the  police station, for undergoing police verification/identification before issuance of new/fresh passport. Before that, Passport office/seva kendra is verifying all the documents, takes photo and prints of all fingers & both toes of hands of applicants, in computer system. The E data can easily be shared with the police station for their records, thus not compelling applicants to visit police station. The repetition of verification of documents and identification process at police station, compel applicants/police officers to waste time/energy. If police's role is restricted only to find out that applicant is having clear police history and is staying at the address mentioned in application, time/energy of applicants/police officers will be saved,ultimately speeding up the issuance of passport.
