Stop the use of the word “Racialized” to describe Black-Indigenous People of Colour in ON
The Issue
The term “racialized” has been used to describe black-indigenous people of colour (BIPOC) in federal and provincial documents. This is a term that many BIPOC feel is othering and too vague, as every human being has a race and is therefore, “racialized”. We feel the use of this term is unnecessary when terms like Black-Indigenous People of Colour, or simply POC are available and do not other us from our white counterparts. Please show your support for this cause so that we can change the language used to describe the amazing BIPOC in Ontario who deserve to have their voices and concerns heard and feel included as Canadians.
