On Saturday, AHAR paid €400 for a badly deformed pup on DoneDeal. We are led to believe that funds are so low that they even had to borrow money. They have BOUGHT this pup and now claim to have 'rescued' it. BUYING is DEALING. As we have seen before, animals are used as emotional leverage to gain large donations. We will no doubt be treated to many posts while other AHAR animals are forgotten. Reputable rescues will never buy, it perpetuates the problem. Compare AHAR to Our Cat and Kitten Rescue who also had seen an animal advertised on DoneDeal. They however, will never buy a cat as that funds the back yard breeders and is not rescue. They refused to pay and eventually the seller surrendered the cat to them for free. As Owen said "A rescue should not pay a penny for any animal". Reputable rescues will not BUY. It perpetuates the problem and the cycle of abuse.
