Reconsider the closure of the north side adult respite centre, Elouera
A society can be fairly judged by the way it treats those who need the most support. Last week, the ACT Government showed us that they have no genuine concern for the lives of disabled members of the community.
With almost no announcement to the families that use the facility, the Government announced the closure Elouera. The centre provides 42 beds a week and there is only one other government run centre like this in Canberra
The Government did not seek the consultation of the community, the families, the staff who understand the needs of the individuals, they made a decision based on incorrect information and are trying to sweep this every day issue under the rug
For families that use this facility, this is unacceptable. For disabled community members who need our support, this is unacceptable. For the hard working carers of the facility who work in an undervalued and under supported field, this is unacceptable. For every member of the Canberra community who elect Government to serve the best interests of the Canberra community, this is unacceptable.
Please help us show the ACT Government that Elouera is more than just a facility, and that the users of this facility matter!
I am in support of keeping the north side adult respite centre, Elouera, open.
Reconsider its closure!
