On Friday 19th November at 17:13 my husband and sister-in-law witnessed Katelyn, a 17 year old girl be hit by a car travelling at 50-60 MPH on the V8 Marlborough street between Netherfield and Tinkers Bridge. For reasons beyond my knowledge she decided to cross the main road instead of using the underpass. 
the underpasses, which have extremely poor lighting, overgrown bushes and people hanging about the consuming alcohol. 2 of the street lamps on the entrance to Tinkers Bridge were also not working when this incident happened.
I for 1 understand why she wouldn’t have wanted to use the underpass. 
I have set up this petition to have the V8 Marlborough street speed limit reduced to 40mph, just like the V7 Saxon street from Eaglestone to Netherfield. This is the second child to be seriously injured by using this main road to cross estates, sadly the first girl, the niece of a very good friend of mine, lost her life. 
Katelyn is currently receiving treatment at the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford, where she is awake but still in a critical condition. 

I would also like to send my condolences to Katelyn’s family, and I sincerely wish Katelyn a speedy recovery.
