I have created this petition to reach out to the Lower Sackville and surrounding area residents. Over the last few years we have seen substantial growth and development along Sackville Drive. This has brought in revenue and has increased the communities populace. There have been multiple apartment complexes constructed along Sackville Drive to encourage and meet this new growth. 

As a resident of Lower Sackville for almost a decade, I was sadden to hear through the grapevine that there was an impending 49 unit, 4-storey apartment complex that will be constructed at 7 Pinehill Drive on the corner of Sackville Drive. This is an area with an established subdivision of residential housing. Where does a 4-storey apartment complex fit in? The lack of communication surrounding this development has been nil. I have not read or seen public or community notice and no one has been knocking at my door advising me of what is to come. I am angry as a resident of Pinehill and a member of this community that a substantial decision like this was not consulted with the surrounding residents. The thought of looking out my window and seeing this monstrosity of a complex encroaching on our privacy is despicable, not only will this developer increase the already busy street, but he has significantly diminished any property value that we would have.  No one will voluntarily seek out a house with an apartment complex as a neighbor. Rumour has it that this same developer has their sights on the 2 commercial properties beside 7 Pinehill Dr for future apartment developments.  Our new apartment complex of 49 units could turn into 3 complexes of 147 units. 

I am reaching out for help to halt this construction and move it elsewhere in an area better suited for apartment complexes. My fear is that as a community our voices may be ignored to make way for someone else’s financial gain regardless of how it impacts people’s daily lives and well-being. I am asking you to sign this petition and to reach out to the people responsible that can help make changes happen. I have already reached out to our MLA and our Councillor for Lower Sackville. Let’s make them aware of how negatively this apartment will impact this area.
