STOP the approval on the Cleveland Treatment Center...Let the voices of Cleveland be heard
The Issue
My name is Rachel Goins,
I am concerned about the Cleveland Comprehensive Treatment Center that was approved by the state on August 26th. I truly believe this was an act of cowardice behavior from the individuals seeking the treatments approval. The Letter of Intent had to be published in a local newspaper for one day in the servicing area, this was published in our neighboring city Chattanooga Tennessee, when in fact we have our very own Local newspaper (Cleveland Daily Banner). A response from Logan Grant stated that one opposition would have been needed to have a community meeting for the approval or opposition of the said treatment center. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt there would have been many opposing this Center from being developed. I understand all to well the ramifications of drug use, as I lost my son Mason to an overdose April 13, 2017. Since his death I have advocated for the broken and those in need. I have no political or financial gain from this opposition, only a broken-hearted Mother who cares about the community that will be devastated by the opening of a legalized drug distribution center (trading one addiction for another).
I’m asking that the state retract the approval from August 26, 2020 and shut this Center down from being developed in our City of Cleveland. Please allow the voices of our community be heard. Our local law enforcement Steve Lawson, Mark Gibson and DA Steve Crump are totally against this coming to Cleveland Tennessee.
