Hundreds of people are losing their Genshin Impact accounts worth up to hundreds and even thousands of dollars due to the poor security system miHoYo has implemented into Genshin Impact. Millions of users have had their emails and phone numbers exposed to hackers who can take control of their account and steal it for good. miHoYo has taken no control and insists users take the matters into their own hands and blames them for “sharing their information”. It is also in the Genshin Impact Terms and Conditions that they cannot be held liable for compensation if your account gets stolen. For making over 500 million dollars off of Genshin Impact alone, they should at least make sure their users are protected. I propose that miHoYo adds two-factor authentication to their most popular game so users feel safer and more likely to continue playing. This isn’t a difficult problem to resolve, but miHoYo wants to do everything they can to avoid it. It’s time for us, the players, to take this into our own hands and hold them accountable for making loyal users lose their accounts over easily fixable security issues.
