Hi everyone,

I have recently been reading about PAN political party having introduced new law to protect domestic pets from mistreatment. They have now introduced a law that is followed up by the GNR and residents are encouraged to report any animal abuse of pets or strays and will be fined a considerable amount of money.

Let's hope this is successful as the situation regarding animals in Portugal including Madeira is not good at all.I am always sceptical, because there seems to be a long way to go yet. People need to be made to take responsibility. and not get off lightly. I wish i could do more to help them but i am at least raising awareness! 

Also the municipalities have been given authority to apply for funding for castration of street animals but they have not bothered to do so!! How can anything improve. This should have been made compulsory!
