Water Access for Rural Residents

Water Access for Rural Residents
Why this petition matters
Mudgee's water access points have no shelter and are rocky potholed mud pits. Rural residents pay the same rates as those connected to town services, without many of those town services. Mid Western Regional Council is spending millions of dollars upgrading an already extensive modern regional sporting facility that will require twice the watering once completed. Grass is great, Footy is great, however rural residents are out of water. It currently costs rural residents over 3000 dollars to have water delivered by a private water carter, that costs 400 dollars in town. Mid Western Regional Council should prioritise the upgrading of water access points including proper road or slab, with shelter so rural residents dont have to stand in 40 degree heat in direct sun. Mid Western Regional Council should provide, at a minimum, a once per year 40000L delivery of potable water to rural residents, at town rates plus fuel to supplement rainfall, which is currently non existent. This scheme would cost a fraction of the money set aside for the Glen Willow project. Water for people before pitches.
