ETI-Eloquence is a text to speech program that hasn't been updated since 2002. It is used widely by the blind community and would benefit being open sourced because It could then be freely used by many projects such as the NVDA screen reader. It has amazing characteristics that don't compare with modern speech synthesizers. These include having a small footprint and being able to speak at fast rates and still be understandable. The engine could be improved by the community because their are lots of people who could take it to the next level such as adding new languages and porting it to more modern platforms.
