Achieve wage equality for minority women

The Issue

The problem I am focusing on is the inequality for women in the workplace. I care about this problem since due to the pandemic, many people lost their jobs and I am willing to research on whether the pandemic has a bigger impact on women, especially minority women than others. It is suggested that at the manager level, 86 women were promoted, compared to 100 men (Women in the workplace 2021). For colored women, the news is even worse. At every level for job promotion, colored women lose ground, for example, at the highest C-suite level, 62% are white men, 20% are white women, 13% are colored men and only 4% are colored women (Women in the workplace, 2021). Therefore, we can see that colored women are facing more severe workplace inequality compared to other groups. It is suggested that although some women have fabulous work abilities, their talent are significantly ignored due to their gender. In addition, women employees are facing more sexual harassments in the workplace, which largely decreases their confidence and lead to a worse experience at work. 

It is very important to stress the equality in the workplace. First, it can protect women employees and give them a safer place to work. Second, adding gender equality can encourage employees to work hard and improve themselves, rather than depending on privileges. For example, with similar education backgrounds, 25% of women claimed that they earned less than their male coworkers (Gender discrimination...).  We can together make a change to help women gain their power in the workplace and make the market a fairer place for competition.
