Dear Neighbors,
It seems that the incorporation of Westchester issue did not get discussed today at the BCC meeting. According to the information posted on the Save Westchester-No New Taxes! Facebook group by the residents that attended the meeting, they passed all items unanimously. Basically they moved the issue to a committee in the month of May, or on 06/08/22. In any case, this is not over yet and we need to continue to follow it.
This is the comment that resident M. P. left on the Facebook page:
Thank you to the people who sacrificed their morning to show up to the BCC today to speak or just fill some seats in support of the speakers. I was disappointed in Chairman Jose “Pepe” Diaz for defending the way the MAC was created. He said they did nothing wrong bypassing the consent of 20% of the affected voters, bypassing the six weeks rule between first reading and public hearing and having the county attorney falsely attest in her Jan 19th memo that six weeks had transpired between first reading and a public hearing. I thought his comments were disrespectful to all of us who thought the process was sneaky. The process didn’t pass our common sense smell test, yet Chairman Diaz said otherwise. I suppose from his lofty position atop the dais the air is fresh and clean. But we know better. Thanks again to those who went downtown this morning!
