Merge Marunji, Hinjewadi and adjoining four villages in PCMC limits
The Issue
Even as the Maharashtra government has shown its readiness to include seven villages within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) limits, two of the villages – Marunje and Gahunje – have openly opposed the move. The other border villages that the PCMC wants to be included in its jurisdiction are Jambhe, Hinjewadi, Maan, Nere and Sangawde.
The state government needs to approve this proposal quickly as PCMC has the budget, capacity and will to develop infrastructure in these seven villages. There are two several townships like Life Republic and Xrbia. But the infrastructure outside these townships like roads are in a very bad condition with many speed breakers, garbage heaps along the roads and frequent power cuts. This is impacting people living in townships and the villages.
Negative impact of bad roads is already been seen in forms of accidents of two wheelers near speed breakers, back and spine problems for drivers, pregnant women and senior citizens. Uncollected garbage is becoming a breeding ground for mosquitoes, leading to increasing dengue cases and water borne diseases. Over the long term, it will lead to reduced value of flats and land in these villages
