Mental health matters to us: A students call for care and support

Mental health matters to us: A students call for care and support
The Issue
As a student growing up in Singapore, I have experienced firsthand how stressful school life can be. During exam periods and sports competition seasons, the pressure can feel overwhelming.Whether its trying to do well in academics, performing well in CCAs, or handling expectations from family, teachers or even ourselves, it sometimes becomes too much to carry alone.
I have had days when I've stayed up past midnight studying, feeling anxious and worrying but pretending I'm fine. I've seen my friends go through the same, pushing themselves until they burn out, skipping meals, crying quietly in the toilet, or putting up a smile even though when deep down they are struggling.During sport seasons, we train hard and stay strong, but sometimes we ignore how tired or emotionally drained we really are.
I'm not asking for things to be easier or school to lower their expectations.I'm asking for more care, understanding and support for students like me that are trying their best but need space to take care of our mental health too.I hope our school and community can work together to make mental health a shared community. I believe that access to counselling support, quiet spaces to rest and reflect, and more frequent wellness days or workshops would make a real difference in how we cope and grow. I also hope we can foster a culture where it is normal to talk about how we really feel without being judged.
I know I am not the only one who has felt this way and I truly believe that our community has the heart and strength to show that mental health matters, just as much as academics or achievements.By starting this petition,I'm not just speaking for myself, but for every student who needs a little more kindness, understanding and space to breathe. This is just the first step, but I believe it can lead to real change, where no one has to struggle in silence anymore.
If you believe that mental health deserves our attention and support as much as any part of our education,I invite you to add your name to this petition.Your signature shows that you care, that you understand the pressure students face and that you want to help create a kinder, safer and more supportive school environment.Together we can make a difference and make sure that no student ever feels alone in their struggles. Please join me in taking this important step towards a healthier and happier community.
