The Issue

Following the open letter published on 6 February 2026 — signed by former captains, players, major sponsors and long-standing stakeholders — we now invite members and supporters to formally register their support for change at Sussex County Cricket Club.

Sussex County Cricket Club is currently operating under a formal exceptional funding agreement with the ECB, following sustained financial losses and an unsustainable cost base. This arrangement involves regulatory intervention, external oversight, financial controls and competitive sanctions.

Such measures represent a profound breakdown in governance and strategic stewardship.

No allegations of misconduct are made. However, effective governance is defined by outcomes. The necessity of regulatory intervention at this level demonstrates that the current leadership has not delivered the stability and sustainability required to safeguard the club’s future.

The continuation of the same board while subject to oversight and reset measures is incompatible with restoring confidence among players, sponsors, members and supporters.

Sussex County Cricket Club deserves leadership that can rebuild trust, restore financial stability, and protect its competitive future.

We therefore call for the immediate resignation of the current Board of Sussex County Cricket Club to allow for a full and independent reset of governance.

If you are a member, supporter, sponsor or stakeholder who believes the long-term future of Sussex must come first, we ask you to add your name in support of this call for change.

Sussex is bigger than any individual or board.
Its future must now be the priority.
