A fair and inclusive Manx border policy

The Issue

The Isle of Man intends to introduce a border entry policy which will allow unrestricted entry to the Island but only for those persons who have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccination.

The policy, which is due to come into operation on the 28th of June 2021, would mean that all persons over the age of 5, who are unvaccinated or who have had only one dose, would be required to self-isolate upon arrival and undertake a PCR test.

We are deeply troubled that such a policy will thereby result in discrimination against the unvaccinated.

Those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons and those who choose not to be vaccinated for personal reasons will be segregated from the vaccinated.

We strongly oppose the creation of a two-tier society and we call on the Manx parliament to adopt a border policy which is inclusive, fair and avoids any form of discrimination against unvaccinated visitors and Island citizens.
