Members of Parliament to declare what they will give up, to join in the financial cuts.

Members of Parliament to declare what they will give up, to join in the financial cuts.
The Issue
Pensioners winter fuel payments are just the first cut. Why should politicians get endless pay rises, financial perks and free gifts and not be asked to join in these cuts. Aren't we supposed to be "in this together"?
It's time all members of Parliament started with the person in the mirror. #reflectthis
We call upon all members of Parliament to declare something financial or a perk they will give up. By doing so, they can lead by example and demonstrate their solidarity with all those whom they claim to represent.
With the UK economy shrinking by 9.9% in 2020, the biggest annual fall in output since modern records began (source: Office for National Statistics), and continuing to struggle now, requiring every citizen to tighten their belts is unavoidable. However, it is equally essential that our leaders commit to sharing in these sacrifices. The basic annual salary of a Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of Commons is £91,346, plus expenses, from April 2024. (source: UK Parliament).
A gesture of financial sacrifice from our elected leaders can be both symbolic and practical, as those funds could be redirected towards the efforts to rebuild the economy.
This is not an attack on our leaders but a call to unity and shared responsibility. Join us in invoking an act of solidarity among our leaders, requesting that they PUBLICLY ANNOUNCE a financial sacrifice they are willing to make during this crisis. We are all in this together; let's make sure our leaders show that they understand this too.
