I have been a longtime fan of Melissa and Doug products. They're colorful. They're well-made. Melissa and Doug make fun toys that my kid loves.

I recently purchased a Melissa and Doug sticker book for my daughter because it includes all of her favorite things: construction vehicles, race cars, dinosaurs, rocket ships, robots, and more. But then I noticed something strange. Not a single police officer, astronaut, fire fighter, or athlete is a woman. Out of all 500 stickers.

This is a real disappointment. Whether or not this is a boy or girl's toy (whatever that means), when did it become OK to write women out of children's imaginations?

I posted my complaint on Facebook and learned from friends that there are other Melissa and Doug products where women are absent. I wrote to Melissa and Doug to convey my disappointment and all I received was a canned email response.

Please consider adding your name to petition Melissa and Doug to include women and girls in their sticker books and other products. Little boys and girls should know that they can dream big no matter their gender.
