We will be filming for KMTV (which may possibly be used for BBC South East) at the Royal Oak this Saturday 20th at 11.30am. Please come along if you can to demonstrate support for the pub! I'd also be very grateful if you could have a final push sharing the petition to get the numbers up before Saturday. I will deliver it to Medway Council next week as they have said they will not comment on a petition which has not been delivered to them. About 150 people turned up to the developer's consultation to object to the demolition. Sadly the developers decided not to speak to the crowd contrary to what they had advertised. However, It was a good opportunity to look round - the beams and panelling I found suggest that the core of the pub is a timber framed building dating back to at least the late 1600s. I have subsequently found out that Interesting Developments Ltd was set up by Phillip Hubbard and Charles Plumley in September 2015 presumably specifically to purchase the Royal Oak. I have contacted their London agents (Nicholas Taylor and Associates) to discuss how they can work with the community to secure the pub's future given the community's overwhelming desire to save the pub. So far I have not heard back. Thanks for all your support.
