Approximately 11% of women in Australia have Lipoedema - most of whom don't realise it as they go undiagnosed. Lipoedema was first diagnosed in the 1940's. It is recognised as a condition by the World Health Organisation and also by many countries around the World. Countries like Germany offer free surgical support to women with Lipoedema. In Australia, many GP's don't even know about it and treatment of Lipoedema for Australian women who do find out becomes very expensive. Many can not afford medical compression, massages, leg and arm pumps, pool therapy, medication and eating an anti inflammatory diet with expensive food substitutes. It's time Australia caught up and diagnosed and supported women with Lipoedema. We need Medicare numbers 45585 & 45048 now.
