The minimum qualification to be teacher in medical college should be medical postgraduation (MD/MS) for maintaining the standards of medical education.

But,Medical Council of India (statuary body that maintain the standard of education)  have given permission to colleges that they can Appoint maximum 30%Non Medical teacher like MSc and PhD in concerning pre clinical subject which are studied in 1st year and 2nd year of MBBS. They are taught without any clinical correlation.

Unfortunately , previously we used to have a very few doctors who prefer teaching in medical colleges. Perhaps for this reason,MCI had to take the decision to allow non medical graduates(msc) to teach in medical colleges

But the situation has changed in the last two decade and lot of doctors are opting for postgraduation in pre and paraclinical subjects.Only candidates with medical postgraduation (MD/MS) will be able to teach these subjects (BIOCHEMISTRY, PHARMACOLOGY, PHYSIOLOGY,ANATOMY, MICROBIOLOGY)with clinical correlation.

Appointing MSC degree holders as Assistant professors/ Tutors / registrars will only lead to  substandardisation of the medical education system.

As there is no dearth of doctors passing out  MD BIOCHEMISTRY, MD PHARMACOLOGY, MD ANATOMY, MD PHYSIOLOGY, MD MICROBIOLOGY every year, appointing MD/MS as tutors/assistant professors would be an appropriate measure for the betterment of medical education.

We are writing to the MCI and we strongly need your support. If u want good competent doctors and HEALTHY INDIA, support us by signing this petition.
