MDC Nursing - Pinning Nursing Ceremony Attire Change to Business Professional & White Coat

The Issue

As fourth-semester MDC Benjamin Leon School of Nursing students, we would like to permanently modify our pinning ceremony dress code to "Business attire with White Coat" since we are the new generation of nurses and the tide is turning in nursing the nursing profession. Though we recognize the value of tradition, we would also wish to introduce our own new traditions as the next generation. We will pay tribute to Florence Nightingale by our lighting candles and receiving pins. We would also like to bring in the administration's attention to the fact that Miami-Dade College is one of the few campuses in Miami-Dade County that has this dress code for our pinning ceremony. We want to use our voices to effect long-term change in our school for not only our class but for other generations of nurses to come.
