Noa CREBASSA started this petition to McGill University

This evening, McGill University notified its students that the winter semester would be extended by three (3) days, following what has been achieved by other universities across Canada. What McGill is not mentioning is that universities like Concordia, UQAM or McMaster gave one (1) extra week to their students, in order for them to relax and recover from this first ever online semester.

To justify this choice, McGill University expressed that students had been prepared for this semester yet, no one could ever be prepared for learning through this type of platform. Specifically, no one could have been prepared to be staring at a screen for an entire day, with assignments coming in all the time, as well as additional group projects or work to do (this is not taking into account the numerous weekly readings). While reaching out to fellow students through different group chats, I realized that all of us feel the same strain this semester, and that it has all affected us personally.

Seeing that only three (3) additional days was given to us was disappointing to say the least. Us students, are asking to have a week added to our winter break and not just three (3) days. This semester has been challenging through the stressful times of Covid-19 and learning to adapt to this new lifestyle. As such, this break truly is needed for us to really reconnect with ourselves, as well as to recover from this stressful experience. Throughout this semester, McGill truly neglected the students' well being and mental health. Thus, through this petition, we are asking for McGill to take the above-mentioned into consideration and help us all.

Please share this petition in order to bring this matter to McGill and hopefully make them reconsider their decision on this extended break.

Thank you so much for reading and signing this petition!
