Don't inhibit Community Solidarity from sharing food with the people of Hempstead!

The Issue

Community Solidarity helps thousands of Hempstead residents avoid hunger. The weekly Hempstead Food Share ends hunger and helps provide local families with $150 of support, for each member of the family, each and every week.

That's money that residents can now use for rent, healthcare payments, education, and other needs that drastically improve their quality of life.

Mayor Hobbs' recent efforts to force Community Solidarity into a location that's not always available, one that's not accessible for the elderly and disabled, and one that presents various safety concerns, is unacceptable.

We call on the Mayor to support Community Solidarity, and to either:

1. Find solutions for the space Mayor Hobbs has demanded Community Solidarity to move to. To respond to the community's concerns, which he has yet to do, and to work with the community to solve some of the problems his forced relocation has created.

Or

2. Allow Community Solidarity to continue sharing food at the Hempstead Transit Center where they've successfully helped residents get groceries with no issues for 15 years.
