More Courts Needed started this petition to Mayor Rob Burton and

In 1976, the population of Oakville was roughly 68,000, and the Town operated/supported 3 local community clubs; WallacePark, Bronte T.C. and Lawson Park. In 2020 the population of Oakville was 217,718. Despite a population growth of 320% in that time period, the town still has 3 local community tennis clubs with roughly the same number of courts. The courts at a community club are different than public courts, they offer lessons, leagues, social events, tournaments, ladders, proper surfaces and maintenance etc.. If you are a resident of Oakville, and have experienced any of the following, please participate in our efforts to have the Town of Oakville expand the current Community Clubs or offer new Community Clubs...

1) Unable to attain a membership due to the club's membership being sold out.

2) Unable to be provided lessons (private, group or clinics) due to limited courts available for teaching.

3) Unable to play for a reasonable amount of time do to pressure from court bookings.

4) Unable to participate in club social events or organized programs due to capacity being reached.

5) Unable to play during times that work with your schedule due to the courts being used for other events/purposes.

6) Having to wait for extended periods of time to get a court.

7) Having to drive greater than 5km to my "local" community club.
