Open Our Schools!

Open Our Schools!

The Issue

Students are screaming to go back to school!  Yet our leaders have chosen to open strip clubs and deem them essential because they serve food and close our schools.  This is a moral dilemma and one which I am completely ashamed of.  Our students who will be leading the next generation have been devalued by the leaders of our state.

I am asking you to sign this petition and demand that our leaders declare our students and their education as essential. If daycares can be open 5 days a week, schools need to reopen 5 days a week and allow our students to return to some normalcy of life.

Parents should have the right to choose not the Government!

Child pornography is at an all time high, predators are trolling the internet in hopes to find that child or teenager unsupervised and take advantage of the vulnerable.  Suicide is up and domestic violence has increased.  The emotional, mental, and financial stress of not opening schools will be far more devastating for the present and the future of our children and our state.

According to the experts: "The research has been clear on this one for years: isolation and loneliness is bad for our health—both physical and mental. According to a meta-analysis co-authored by Julianne Holt-Lunstad, PhD, a professor of psychology and neuroscience at Brigham Young University, lack of social connection heightens health risks as much as smoking three-quarters of a pack of cigarettes a day…every day. “There is robust evidence that social isolation and loneliness significantly increase risk for premature mortality, and the magnitude of the risk exceeds that of many leading health indicators,” Holt Lunstad says.'

According to David Gunnell, professor of epidemiology at the University of Bristol and head of the Bristol Suicide and Self-harm Research Group, "Suicide is likely to become a more pressing concern as the pandemic spreads and has longer-term effects on the general population, the economy, and vulnerable groups."

THE CDC REPORTED..."We're seeing, sadly, far greater suicides now than we are deaths from COVID,” Redfield explained. “We're seeing far greater deaths from drug overdose that are above the excess that we had as background than we are seeing the deaths from COVID.”

A June survey from The Addiction Policy Forum reported a 20% increase in substance abuse with 34% of respondents experiencing a change in their treatment and recovery due to the pandemic.

On a financial note, property taxes are not being waived for schools not reopening...Open the schools or decrease the property taxes!

Close the strip clubs and bars, and OPEN OUR SCHOOLS NOW!

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!
