We reached out to Brownsville Mayor Trey Mendez and in a written statement he told us, “As previously stated, the item has been requested for a future agenda where it will be addressed. I have reached out to the Brownsville Historical Association, who has advised that they are willing to take both the rock and plaque. I would like to get this matter finalized and move on so that we can focus on making out city the best it can be.”

Brownsville Mayor Trey Mendez adds that the plaque was placed many years ago and does not reflect the current values or ideals of our current society.
