We welcome you to march in solidarity with the Black community and its supporters across the nation.
This march will begin with a visit to the Jefferson Davis Monument, located in Washington Park. The Brownsville City Commission currently a motion to relocate this Confederate Monument.
We will march down Elizabeth Street towards the Robert E. Lee building at Texas Southmost College. We will speak shortly on how these Confederate Monuments have propagated an acceptance of anti-Blackness in Brownsville.
The march will end at the mural dedicated to George Floyd, painted by local artist Marcus Castro. We will pay our respects to the Black lives senselessly lost to police brutality. March participants will be welcome to share their feelings about BLM as we gather at the mural.
