Thank you to all our supporters – your support is helping!
Today a letter from the Tyne Kittiwake Partnership has been delivered to the landlord and residents of Ferry Mews. The aim is to try to begin a discussion with the landlord and come to a better resolution for the Kittiwakes.
In relation to a North Shields Kittiwakes item recorded by the BBC for ‘Look North’ local television news (North East and Cumbria), I have been informed that it ‘is scheduled to run on Saturday in the teatime bulletin at c.17:50 on BBC 1’.
Numbers of supporters has risen to almost 5,300. Let’s get that netting removed and allow our Kittiwakes to return!
It was a lovely, cold day as I hand-delivered the letters during a walk from home before watching nearby gulls feeding on the river. There were common gulls and black-headed gulls near the North Shields ferry-landing with herring and great black-backed gulls along at the fish quay. When I caught the ferry across to South Shields on Wednesday I saw a Mediterranean gull on the south side of the Tyne. We are blessed here with a range of different gull species.
With everyone’s support I am sure common sense will prevail.
Thanks again from Daniel (and the Kittiwakes)
