Thank you to all our supporters! Signatures have now increased above 6,000.

The emblem of the Beacon Centre in North Shields shows two gulls in flight. Looking at these silhouetted gulls carefully, their outline looks very similar to (even the same as) a Kittiwake. Perhaps this is an indication of how such birds are held in esteem here in the town and within North Tyneside. We cannot escape the cry of gulls in North Tyneside; they are an essential part of the scene, coexisting, living together. In harmony, I would hope, with people to care for and consider them.

Our own population grows each year, unsustainably really, while our wildlife diminishes to make way. This does not seem right at all. We need balance and consideration.

The Tyne Kittiwakes will be aware of the Geordie and in fact those Kittiwakes raised beside the river in North Shields are true Geordies in every sense, perhaps the truest. How can we chase them away? They belong here! We must show them respect.

Please continue to share and seek signatures for the petition.

Thanks again from Daniel (and the Kittiwakes of North Shields)
