Reinstate Moroni Police Chief Robert Hill

Reinstate Moroni Police Chief Robert Hill
The Issue
We need your help to reinstate Police Chief Robert Hill. This week Mayor Paul Bailey dismissed our Police Chief and consequently our entire police force. We are a small town here in Moroni, and our 911 calls or policing needs will now be serviced by the county Sheriff's office. They are already spread so thin! My family has only lived here for 6 years and we have seen how it has been a struggle just to get someone to take the job. Our Police Chief Robert Hill has been exactly what we need. He serves fairly and according to justice and the law. Here's a link to his background and professional history: https://sanpetemessenger.com/moroni-resident-who-has-been-serving-since-age-17-will-serve-as-police-chief/
According to the law, the Mayor can dismiss the police chief if he wants. It is not illegal, but it is not what is in the best interest of this community. Officer Hill works full time as police chief (and again, as the entire police department) as well as serving on our city's EMT staff. He serves his community and he does it well. His firing is based on heresay and the mayor will not admit or listen to eyewitnesses to the supposed fireable offense. Here's the link to his firing: https://www.fox13now.com/news/local-news/moroni-city-police-department-loses-its-chief-and-only-full-time-employee#:~:text=MORONI%20CITY%2C%20Utah%20%E2%80%94%20FOX%2013,stay%20employed%20with%20the%20city
Officer Hill stays calm in all situations. He de-escalates all situations whether citizens are upset or even in pain. He does not respond to emotional outbursts with his own agenda. Also, he is respectful. As a mother of children with autism, I have found comfort that my children, if the need ever arose, would be treated respectfully because they'd be interacting with Officer Hill. He is everything a police officer should be. He is exemplary.
Meanwhile the Mayor has a history of behaving badly if people remind him to follow policy and the law. Here's the article of when he got in a shouting match with another council member for reminding him to follow procedure and due process:

Also, as previously mentioned, with the police department disbanded in our town, the funds will most likely go to Sanpete County Sheriff's Office. Mayor Bailey is a Sanpete County Sheriff's Officer. So he's most likely planning on funneling the money from firing Chief Hill into his full-time job because we don't have another officer.
Please sign the petition to help our city continue with a calm, collected, reliable, and fair police force, specifically Chief Robert Hill.
