You may have already seen the latest news reports, but if not, the Mayor has released a proposal purchasing additional land to be included in Larus Park in order to continue on with the water tank development at its original proposed site. http://richmondvaannouncements.blogspot.com/2017/11/mayor-levar-m-stoney-announces-land.html I am pleased that Mayor Stoney and City Administrators have listened to our concerns and worked on a compromised agreement to make the Larus Park water tank proposal more amenable to city residents. However, our group plans to come with a list of questions [to the community, land use, and City Council meetings] in order to ensure that facts are not again misrepresented and to seek additional protections for the park to prevent future developments. I also plan to ask how this project aligns with the City's conservation planning initiatives as well as Chesterfield's share of the cost of the water pipeline that Richmond is solely responsible for according to the last agreement. Below are the scheduled meetings to take place for the approval of this proposed ordinance. The public is invited to all, and I encourage you to attend: * Community Meeting - Nov. 20th at Huguenot Community Center, 6pm * Land Use Committee Meeting - Nov. 21st at City Hall, 1pm * City Council Meeting - Monday, Dec. 11th at City Hall, 6pm I will be closing the petition as the Mayor delivered on our request to address this issue.
