Dear Supporter,
Thanks to those who came out with me on September 8th to deliver our petition to Mayor Stoney's office. Even though we didn't exactly receive a warm reception, I believe we did get the attention of the mayor and his staff. If you haven't seen the Richmond.com article, here is the link: https://tinyurl.com/yaows6fs.
Additionally, the Director of Public Utilities e-mailed me the following Monday to address some of the concerns addressed in the first letter: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8zEYhAQk4BEYTFhNEJ0S2pycnc. Although I was appreciative of receiving details of Mr. Steidel's key points in his support of the project, it became clear to me that a few were missing that could ultimately turn the Mayor and Council's decision the other way. Therefore, I decided to write a follow-up letter to Mayor Stoney in order to bring these to light and copied all council members: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8zEYhAQk4BEbmJjNGNwSndpNzA.
The City's Land Use Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 19th at 1 pm. Their recommendations will be heard at the City Council meeting on the following Monday, September 25th at 6 pm. At both meetings, the Larus Park ordinance will be addressed and both are open to the public. Please show your support by attending and making your voices heard.
Fingers crossed!
Jeannie
