Dear Supporter,
As I sit here this evening reading your comments, I am reminded how significant our voices are when united together on one common goal. We often hear on the news these days about stories that divide us. Seeing the results of this petition, however, has given me so much hope. I recently read a wonderful report "The Public Value of Urban Parks" by Chris Walker. He wrote, "parks help build and strengthen ties among community residents by bringing people together, including those who are otherwise divided by race or class, and by helping them work together on common projects. These ties—often labeled “social capital”—represent subtle but important assets for a community. They provide avenues through which information, values, and social expectations flow, and they empower people to tackle community-wide problems, embark on collective actions, and advocate effectively for their community." This is exactly what Larus Park has done and will continue to do for our community if our local government values this park as much as we do.
In order to get that final draw for 300 more signatures so that we can meet our goal of 1000, I have put together a flyer that I wanted to share with you. Visit https://tinyurl.com/yan3lzum to download a copy.
Please help spread the word by posting this around the community (with permission), on your front door, or even on your vehicle.
I can't say thank you enough for all that you have done so far in spreading the word, but I will again...
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Jeannie
