I appreciate the hard work and countless hours the HOA has put into making our community a safe and beautiful one. We live in an amazing place and without their efforts Pepperwood would not be as desirable a place to live. I had no idea that a few neighbors had such strong opinions about the deer, otherwise I would have gone to an HOA meeting and spoken up for them. I didn't know I needed to. My discussion with neighbors has always been about how amazing our wildlife is and we text pictures of the new fawn and incredible bucks we see in our yards to each other all the time. I disagree with any attempt to remove the deer from Pepperwood. The HOA has just emailed out a biased survey. It is designed to get the results they want. One question asks for a dollar value of the plants deer have eaten in their yards. Really? There is no question asking the dollar value of the joy we get watching these majestic and beautiful animals as they wander through our yards. If we vote to kill the deer simply because they are eating the plants in our yards there will be bow hunters shooting deer in our yards and on our streets. The state will not allow deer to be relocated. There is no other solution. The survey fails to mention the harsh reality of deer removal. I'm sure people would think twice about voting to remove deer if they knew they were going to be slaughtered in their front yards for their kids to see. We live in an incredibly beautiful location. The proximity to the mountains and the unique wildlife we share our homes with make living in Pepperwood a unique and special place. Killing the deer because they are eating our plants is inhumane and unsustainable. I have a friend that lives on the Bountiful bench where this same scenario played out. As soon as the sharp shooters were killing deer in their yards everyone agreed to call it off. It was a complete disaster! Consider making small changes instead, such as driving the speed limit, planting deer resistant plants and not feeding the deer. We can learn to live with our wildlife.
