The statue that once stand in Gastown, represented a figure tied to a culture that does not evoke the values and beliefs of The People of Vancouver.

In poetically-justified fashion, The People of Vancouver removed the statue by collective force. Without having caused any humanly harm, space for a new voice was vacant. 

On February 20th, 2022, history was achieved when Joe Buffalo, on a skateboard, went ollie to tail over top of where once was a statue of Gassy Jack. 

In honour of change, and the birth of a new era in our city's cultural representation: we request that, on a date agreed upon by both The People of Vancouver, and The City of Vancouver, we replace the old statue with a new statue of Canadian Icon, and Cultural Figure, Joe Buffalo.
