Petition UPDATE: I wanted to let everyone know that the Mayor has been able to allocate money to the repaving Flagler Drive South. Specifics will be coming soon, but it looks like the timeline is a few months.

Thanks to everyone who supported and signed the petition, Commissioner Christina Lambert for her responsiveness and passion for her constituents, and Mayor Keith James for getting this done. We all came together to get something great done for the City of West Palm Beach.

This petition is to request that the City of West Palm Beach repave Flagler Drive from Okeechobee Boulevard in the North to the Spillway in the South. Our beautiful promenade has deteriorated to the point where it is not only an eyesore, but unsafe for cyclists, drivers, and pedestrians alike. In many areas the bike lanes are in such disrepair that they are essentially useless, forcing cyclists into the street. Reports of residents tripping and falling in potholes have come too light as well.  

This is not something that should continue being overlooked and put on the back burner. It should not be acceptable that our great city allow the decay of our waterfront. If we are going to be a world-class city, attracting top companies and talent, this needs to be addressed quickly. 

Flagler Drive is a place where we can recharge, take a morning walk, ride our bikes, walk our dogs, take a run, watch the sunrises. It is more than just any road, it is a promenade, a gym, a place to relax. It is a gem in the crown of our city and deserves to be cared for as such.

Mayor Keith James and our esteemed commissioners Lambert, Fox, Peduzzi, Sohaf, and Warren, your constituents need your help. We deserve better. Our city deserves better.
